Loading the body on one side forces the opposite side of the body to work even harder to maintain proper posture and alignment though the squat and pressing patterns.

‘Sessions are easy at rework’
There are some cruddy rumours flying around of late that we just do circuit training and don’t really structure our sessions.

We had the pleasure of one of our buddy’s from @danumcrossfit dropping in today to partner up with Dave.. I think as you can see from the picture, the session was anything but easy 

All of our sessions are programmed 6-8 weeks in advance depending on what movements we are trying to progress in.
We have structured strength work increasing in difficulty each week on Monday,Wednesday and Friday, each followed up with progressive skill work and followed by a piece of fitness to compliment it.
Our Tuesday and Thursdays are reserved for classical functional fitness workouts, Tuesday being more odd object/strongman orientated with sandbags and kettlebells, while Thursday is a sheer test of your fitness abilities through 2-3 different tests.

The best way to see what we do is coming down for your FREE taster session, that’s all josh did, and we think he’s definitely leaving wanting to come back for some more

HOW MUCH MUSCLE CAN YOU BUILD A YEAR

When everyone starts training, they experience newbie gains, which basically means no matter what you train or how much, you're going to gain a pretty significant amount of muscle (as long as you're consistent). In fact, in your first year of training alone, you can put as much as 20-25 pounds of muscle. But unfortunately, newbie gains don't last forever.
-
After your first year of training, the rate of muscle gain in your 2nd through 3rd year of training is going to drop off to around half of what is was your first year, and when you become advanced (4+ years of training), you'd be lucky to gain as much as 2-3 pounds of muscle a year. While it does suck that muscle growth slows over time, don't let it demotivate you from still working out. 
Many people believe that they are doing something wrong because they are gaining as quickly as that first year. It's not your fault. Building muscle just naturally get tougher and slower as you go on.

You can still get great results  as an advanced lifter though. 
It's just going to take more time. That's why the people with the most muscle growth in the gym are the ones that stayed consistent and patient.

So, next weekend I'll now be running in the Great East Run Half Marathon ‍️
Completely last minute, haven't done any proper miles in a very long time, but just thought why not? what have I got to lose? 
I talk a lot about being able to turn my hand to most fitness challenges when called upon, and this is a test of exactly that.

Decided to get out this morning and put some minutes on the legs (otherwise I would probably collapse at 10k ). 14k of blowing out my backside, next week should be a laugh.🤦‍️🥵

Sitting in the cinema for 3 hours last night meant the knees were in bits, but the pick 'n' mix was a great little pre workout  swings and roundabouts.

Oh the things you find on the interwebs... who knew retro Japanese yoga mats were a thing!

#rwc2019 Japan begins this Friday 20th September (in case you didn’t already know or quite frankly couldn’t give a damn!)... It just got very real at our house this morning putting the Snapper in a taxi cab off to Heathrow til early November some time to take some pics of the brave boys chasing the oval ball ️ Anyways... sessions with me this week:

This exercise — basically a modified dragon squat — is especially effective following IR, ER and adductor mobility. Here, the muscles of the entire gluteal and adductor complex are working together to control the movement of the femur as it adducts, internally rotates and digs posteriorly-inferiorly back into the joint🦵

These are also actions which are necessary for optimal hip, as well as knee & ankle function (scroll back to previous posts to read why). Including exercises that involve time under tension + gradual increases in loading are therefore fundamental to facilitating overall training progress

Focal points:
Begin standing on one leg, holding onto a pillar/stable object, core engaged.
Drive heel + pads of all toes actively down and into floor, keeping arch lifted between. Feel here how you are already engaging the muscles of the entire leg and glutes.
Hinge forward at hips, driving thigh deep back into the hip socket as knee bends and opposite leg crosses behind;
Keep hips square forward; the further you reach the leg behind and out to the side, the greater the load into the supporting leg.
Lower as far as you are able to control the movement
Replace gesture leg and use it to press back up to starting position. Repeat 5-8 reps. . . .
