Because this photo will never get old! Even if it was two years ago @lizbamforthpt. I learnt so much going through comp prep, an I will always say to anyone who wants to compete... it completely changes how you think about life and food 🤣 never did I ever think I’d ever compete in a body building competition, but I honestly loved it! In some ways miss the structure of prep, don’t however miss the tears, hunger and sheer exhaustion  I take my hat off to those who go from one prep straight to another! One 18 week stint was enough for me, for now! Remember, to the every day person, being comp lean is not sustainable or healthy! Theres many ways to progress, and certainly in your first couple of years of proper structured training, weight, reps and sets should be enough to keep you going.

As you get more advanced, you have to be a little more strategic about your planning.

Increasing frequency, different rep ranges, different exercises, tempo's, changes in rest periods etc. There are many ways to skin a cat, so to speak.

As long as you have a plan and track your progress, the progression over the longer term (rather than week to week) will be clear to see.

Just make sure you've mastered the fundamentals, form is everything!

Jumping into the weekend liiiiiikeeeee ‍️ Juggling social events and your fat loss or fitness goal can be tough. But with the forward planning of meals and workouts, it can be done. Small tweaks can make a huge difference - making informed decisions about what you really want to eat at a party instead of just inhaling the whole buffet, swapping your usual pub meet up for a sports game/ new class with your mates, swapping your sex on the beach cocktails to a spirit and mixer, choosing to schedule your workout in before you go out instead of on Sunday morning when you’re feeling a little snoozy etccc. It’s all about getting a balance that feels right for you.

I think it’s important that we feel that our health or fitness or fat loss goal is inching closer AS WELL AS seeing our friends and family and having a fun time (Because social well-being is a part of our health). There’s no need for extreme diets. We don’t need to take an all or nothing approach. If you’re looking to get leaner, you don’t need to be chasing rippling fitness model abs, you just need to feel confident, healthy and good about yourself.

So if you’re feeling anxious about missing a gym session or consuming different foods at a party this weekend, then it might be good time for you to practise that and put the diet on hold anyway, or at the very least, remind yourself that 1 day of overeating or 1 missed gym session will not derail your progress.
