Let your wild thing make your heart sing ... into a wheel pose  Still trying to move more gracefully in this transition  but considering that over a month ago my top hand was still waving around mid-air, feeling completely lost 🤣 when trying to move into wheel, I’m pretty stoked to be where I am now  I keep going on about drishti (gaze) when I teach, only to forget all about that myself when I practice  Shifting my gaze towards the mat (rather than just staring behind me) really helped me here, so I know where my hands are... logical enough, right?! #yoga #loveyoga #yogateacher #yogastudent #yogaddict #yogaeverydamnday #yogaeverywhere #practiceandalliscoming #vinyasaflow #wildthingtowheel #wildthingpose #camatkarasana #wheelpose #urdhvadhanurasana #heartopener

Thankful for all the learning, growth, and boundary pushing at this years Divine Play! Although we are teaching today, we spent the whole day as students yesterday and did many skills we haven’t done before and/or too afraid to try. They are skills we just had a mental block about. We kept on telling ourselves “we don’t do this because of ______”..... But in reality, all of these were within our skill level, we just needed the right amount of support and direction ️

Lara is the lead host for today, which focuses on 1) mobilizing the HIPS to create more length and space in the anterior hip and 2) firing up the hip muscles for the base of our backbend. Working on glute activation in hip extension with the neutral pelvis will create the desired foundation for a satisfying spinal extension. The wall and your hands help with feedback to stay strong and spacious 🤛

Eka Pada Rajakapotasana 2 | King Pigeon Pose 2 Variation with Block (One leg back bend).

Today i teach this to my students at 12-1pm class (Intermediate to Advanced Level).
In this keep your both leg from hip to knee 90 degree straight and arrange the block properly to balance. (you can put 3 or 4 blocks to its depends on your experiences).
Then slowly lean back by lifting the chest forwardand pressing the hip forward, then rest the head on the heel and expand the chest by spreading the both hand beside and hold there for few breaths.

In the mood for balance... Trying to be good to myself - to my stiff back and my weak core. 1️⃣ more day to the weekend yeah!

Been ages since I last used #yogawheel, funnily I felt much easier to breathe now than in the past when I was all tighty tight. I had initially thought that I booked a wrong class when I stepped into the class. But no, it wasn’t, and I really liked how the instructor @thatmomoffour used the wheel as a (heavy) prop in Pilates for core & oblique workouts! Didn’t know that there are many ways to use the wheel, other than opening my heart & shoulders. Well, now I know.

For Day 7 we are practicing #dancerpose  See the first video for more on that  I like to stretch through the front body by firing up my backside  as best I can  #yogastraps are my best friends when it comes to dancer pose 🤗 especially when attempting the #flipgrip 🤣 Slowly but surely!

I also wanted to share bits of my practice today with #wheelpose #onwednesdayswedropback practice and #wheelpushups  Rotating my shoulders like that seems to always help before I attempt the drop back and wheel pushups are a game changer  I started including these when I wasn’t able to straighten my arms in wheel pose...my feet stayed up on my couch and I would work those pushups to help open my shoulders and everything else 🤣 The way it coaxes me to rotate through my arms helps so I include them in my daily practice nowadays! Kick overs also have a way of helping my body bend  practice that with the couch it elevated surface too if it’s not ready for the floor...my couch was my best friend when it came to bends for yearssss!!! And how fun is that flipped toe wheel inspired by @jadebellyyoga

Wheel pose  who else used to jump into this backbend like it was second nature when they were little? I miss being able to kick back into a handstand from it  nowadays I am definitely not as bendy (or fearless!) as 10 year old me was. This pose for me is actually quite a challenge due to a few aches and pains I’ve acquired over time. But I still like to challenge myself and feel immensely happy when I can hold it for a little while! Practice, practice, practice.... Do you have a pose you find pretty difficult but are keen to master?.
